Mission or Purpose:
To connect more students to school through after school musical activity and to foster our students’ immersion in the musical arts.
Meeting Dates and Time:
All meetings are on Fridays, beginning at 4:15 and ending at 5:30, unless otherwise noted.

Dear Parents,
I am pleased to announce to you that Jones Middle School has a Guitar Club and your child has expressed interest in being a member. The Guitar Club is an opportunity for students to be involved in an after school activity, develop their musical skills, and work with other students who have similar interests.
The purpose of this letter is to ask you to support your child in this endeavor. There are many ways you can do that, including:
1. Transporting your child’s equipment to school on Club meeting days (our meeting schedule is attached.) If your child does not have a guitar, the school owns a few beginner acoustic guitars that can be used, but they may have to be shared between students.
2. Picking up your child at 5:30 p.m. after Club meetings. This will allow our faculty members to go home at a reasonable time after our meeting is over.
3. Encouraging your child’s musicianship. Ask them what they worked on during our Club meetings. Ask them what they learned. When their progress seems to “plateau,” an encouraging word from you may give them the inspiration they need to persevere. Ask them to play for you! Attend their “Live Performances.” (See schedule.)
4. Be understanding of the loud sound coming from their room when they are practicing at home.
5. Consider donating any musical equipment that is collecting dust in your basement. We would welcome donations of any guitars, basses, picks, capos, tuners, amplifiers, cables, microphones, drum kits, or keyboards.
6. Consider making a monetary donation to fund future purchases of sound equipment, instruments, and guest presenters. (Our membership dues are $20/year, but all students are welcome regardless of their ability to pay.)
Your support is fundamental to the development of your child and supporting his/her involvement in the “Guitar Club” is vital in making this a meaningful experience for him/her.
